| JJ Abrams the director of MI3 might be directing the new Star Trek film slated for release in 2008. What do you all of you think? | ||

Guaranteed sales. I hope that isn't the only reason why JJ decided to do this.
The Star Trek universe is a fictional phenomena like no other. Television may be suffering some major commercial set-backs, but people will always be drawn to pay for movies, either at the theater or the local video-shops, and Star Trek will continue to sell spin-offs. But I have to wonder just how much more they can tap the original ST universe without losing originality. Next time they spin-off, they might be smart to take it one step further, and make some new introductions in areas that ST never explored before, otherwise, they risk losing fans who don't get the same kick out of the same old thing. | ||
