The lost city of Atlantis has been found - but not on Earth. In the Pegasus galaxy, accessible by Stargate, a team investigates the home city of the Ancients. Their leaders are diplomat Dr. Elizabeth Wier, Air Force Major John Sheppard, his second-in-command Lt. Aiden Ford, and scientist Dr. Rodney McKay. They soon find themselves embroiled in a galactic battle against the Wraith, creatures which live off humans, and periodically raid villages to ensure that humans will never be able to effectively fight against them. Refugees from one of the raided planets, lead by Teyla Emmagan, soon join the team at Atlantis and is a love interest for John Sheppard. The Ancients fought them, and lost.
