Forum Rules
The following are the rules for the message board at Scifi Minds. Please ensure that you follow them at all times. Penalties for breaking the rules is at the discretion of the admins and mods.
Signatures
These can contain images, but if they do then the image must be less than 200 pixels wide and 50 pixels high. You may only have one image in your signature. Any going over this size will result in your signature being removed.
Spamming/Advertising
Spam is defined as advertisements or soliciting, or for posting junk messages that are not appropriate for the topic of the forum they are posted in. This is not tolerated and the offending messages will be deleted.
Advertising related causes (such as publicising your own science fiction website) is allowed in your signature. Creating an actual message for it is only appropriate if you anticipate discussion about it, and will be better tolerated from someone who is already an established member of the community. This is at the mods' discretion and if in doubt, ask first!
Disagreements
On the boards, people may disagree with you! If someone's opinion is not the same as yours, you don't have to agree with them but you do have to respect their choice. You may argue about the issue, but personal attacks are not tolerated.
Posting Guidelines
- Use an informative subject. Subjects should give a clue to what a thread is about. they should not be IN ALL CAPS or say things like "Click Here!!!"
- Post on the correct board. Read the description of the boards to find out which is correct.
- Write in correct English. No netspeak please! We don't demand precision typing skills, but abbreviations such as 'u' or 'l8r' really detract from the content of your message.
- Don't abuse BBCode. Posting a message in mile-high purple letters might seem amusing at the time, but isn't as readable as you like. BBCode is there to help you emphasise specific points. It's not a new artistic medium.
- Keep the width to a minimum. Long lines of text or large photos will cause some users to have to scroll. All our threads should be viewable at 800x600.
- Don't go too far off topic. Tangents are fine, but please don't take over the Babylon 5 thread to talk about your pet goldfish called Rover.
